Am I the only one left who actually follows the traffic laws? I drive like an average person, but notice that the people around me are either driving too slow or too fast, running stoplights, stop signs, or crossing against traffic when they are a pedestrian. Phil and I were even discussing last night about how bicyclists never seem to obey traffic laws. They flagrantly run stop signs, stoplights, etc. Whatever happened to following the law?
Not a day goes by (today included where I saw three) where people can't be bothered to stop at traffic lights. On my way to work today I saw three people in a row, at three different lights blow straight through the red light and keep right on trucking. I find this to be unacceptable. Is it just the nice weather that make people think they are exempt from following the laws, or some darker, mischievous force at work?
Sometimes I get so frustrated I actually want to hit that pedestrian who walked out into traffic, just so that they won't ever do it again. Not that I would actually ever do it, don't get me wrong, but the thought has crossed my mind. (Just in case you're reading this thinking that I'm a terrible person, or by some chance I do accidentally hit a pedestrian, this is a rant, not premeditation).
Is anyone else tired of stopped at stop signs (like you're supposed to do) only to be passed on the right (or more irritatingly, on the wrong side of the street) by some moron on a bike who believes that stop signs are mere suggestions? I see this all the time and wonder where the cops are. I heard of a time in Phoenix when the bicycle traffic got so used to disregarding traffic signals that the cops cracked down on them. I am wondering how many people like myself can't wait for that to happen here.
Also, being young, I actually like to drive the speed limit, not 5 or even 10 miles below it. Yet it seems almost every day I am behind someone who drives so slow that the obnoxious bicyclists are passing us. If you are sitting there thinking that I should stop bitching because gas prices are high and I should feel lucky that I'm not walking, bite me! I have a budget and can afford the gas enough to drive the damn speed limit. I am tired of being behind people who consistently drive 25 mph in a 30, or 35-40 mph in a 45. It is a waste of my time and theirs.
Does anyone else feel my pain, or am I just preaching to a dead crowd?

Well as I don't own a vehicle I am not sure how much weight my response has, but I totally agree that people who carelessly break traffic laws are on my list of most irritating people in the world... closely following Rachel Ray, but at least I can change the channel there... I do however frequently ride in the cars of others and we collectively rant about this very subject, so no, I don't think you are alone, though it might be a awhile until the police are as fed up as the Phoenix crowd...
