Awfully cold for summer

So, the school year is over and my stress level is down. I'm pretty happy that school is out, but I decided to work this summer, so I didn't get much of a break.

Phil and I put up the guts of our fence (with the help of his dad) this past weekend. The posts and rails are in, and this coming weekend we're going to finish by putting up the planks. I think the dog will enjoy the yard more if he actually gets to spend time in it.

I feel bad for the dog though because I've been working so much all he gets to do is stay inside all day. I don't know if I'll be comfortable leaving him outside when the fence is finished either. He gets real ancy when he knows we're not home. Once I left a window open to the apartment I was living in with him and he broke the screen to get out and come find me. He's got just a touch of separation anxiety.

The cat is still driving me crazy. She runs around crazily all the time and keeps clawing the damn furniture. I got out a laser pointer and have occassionally played with her. She loves that thing. She'll chase after it and try to attack it. It's actually really fun to watch.

So I took Red to the vet a few weeks back and she told me he needed to lose some weight. So we followed her advice and put him on a diet. Unfortunately, he's hungry all the time and has started to eat the cat food, and get into the trash. I have started putting the trash can up on the countertop at night and when I got to work so he can't get into it, but still, I don't know where to put the cat food so that she can eat it but he can't. I could put it on the kitchen table, but I find cats on the tables and counters to be a little gross. I'm not sure where it should go.

That's everything that's going on with me, in case any of you were curious. By next week all my grades should be posted, so that should be interesting. I'm thinking I did really well because I worked my ass off this semester. I guess we'll see, won't we?
